Introduction
These days, you don’t have to be a tech-savvy internet user for using torrents. In the past decade, the process of using private torrent tracker sites has simplified and thus has gained a lot of popularity. Users want to be a part of a prestigious community that can make them feel special. There are plenty of invite-only torrent sites that accept only a limited number of members. Being part of such a community enables the users to access a massive free indie content library and download free indie content that is not readily available on publicly available torrent sites. Today, we’re reviewing one such popular private torrent community known as NordicBits.
What is NordicBits?
NordicBits is a general Nordic Tracker that allows users to download torrents from a wide range of free indie content categories. Though the website has an English-language on its interface, the torrents hardly have English subtitles. Thus, it’s fair to say that it doesn’t cater to the needs of a global audience. With just above 20,000 torrents, this site caters to Swedish, Danish, Finnish, and Norwegian audiences. The primary reason why users love this website is that it has tons of bonuses and freeleech torrents that help maintain the ratio.
Is NordicBits safe?
For a torrent site to be safe for browsing, it needs to have an SSL certificate, which NordicBits does have. By using tools such as SEOQuake and MOZ, you can easily check the credibility of a website by gauging Domain Score (DS) and Trust Score (TS). Based on my research, NordicBits has a domain score of 2 and a trust score of 0 which is abysmal. If you were to go by these trust stats, you won’t even dare to visit the site. However, I’ve seen that most of the torrent sites have a hard time establishing trust with the search engine for obvious reasons.
What should you expect from the NordicBits?
Active Forums – Not only does NordicBits has an active forum, but it also carries a pleasant visual appeal. Unlike other sites that use a default forum plugin, the developers of this website have spent a great amount of time trying to make the forum look clean and attractive. And that’s quite evident in the overall interface. The light/dark gray color combination along with white text has a distinctive feel to it. As for threads, you’ll find well-diversified categories.
User Guides – While the user guides are part and parcel of the forum page, I really liked this section and wanted to single out. Why? Because the guides have been categorized based on the language – Danish, English, Norwegian, Swedish, and Finnish. Each of the guides has more than 5 posts. For instance, the Danish Guide has 155 posts and covers about 52 topics.
User Hierarchy – After reviewing certain platforms with no user hierarchy, it was refreshing to find one that did. NordicBits similar to other popular sites has an 8 step hierarchy – User, Power User, Elite User, Super User, Grand User, Master User, Donor, and VIP. Each of these positions comes with certain benefits and promotion is done based on user interaction. For instance, if you have uploaded more than 250 GB content and maintain a share ratio of 1.5, you’ll be promoted to Power User from a general user.
Inhouse Currency – NordicBits has an inhouse currency which is referred to as the NBCoins. For every hour where you seed a content, you are awarded 3 NBCoins. There are multiple ways to earn NBCoins. For instance, if you upload a new torrent, you get 500 NBCoins. On the contrary, if you comment on a torrent, you get 15 NBCoins for interaction. By collecting NB coins, you’ll be able to trade them for goodies such as improving upload stats, getting more invites. NBCoins are awarded on a per torrent basis and an individual has a 1000 torrents limit.
Donation – NordicBits, similar to other private torrent communities, follows a donation model. As a donor, you can choose between 1, 2, 3, and 6-month plans. The minimum donation amount provides you with perks such as 1 invite, Donor Star, Free leech, Immunity, 500 GB Upload, and 500 Bonus Points. You get similar perks in other tiers except the numbers are much higher.
NordicBits in numbers
NordicBits is a small community with just under 10,000 registered members. It has members mainly from the Nordic region. However, since the interface is in English, users from around the globe can access the platform. There are tons of torrents on this website and the total uploaded data is close to 2 PB.
As per the Alexa rankings, NordicBits is ranked #204,103 which makes it amongst the top 210,000 websites on the internet. It attracts more than 70,000 users a month and an average visit on the site lasts for more than 6 minutes. An average user visits 3.51 pages before bouncing off the website. Regardless of decent page interaction, NordicBits does maintain an outstanding bounce rate of just 26.31%.

Design
NordicBits by far has one of the most innovative designs I’ve seen thus far on a private torrent tracking site. It looks like a gaming site with distinctive color codes. The light/dark gray color combination with gray headlines and black body text does give it a distinctive feel. Additionally, it’s one of those websites that makes the intent clear right on the homepage as the tagline reads ‘We Bring Scandinavia Together’.
Header – NordicBeats has multiple header sections. The primary header section has six options – ‘Torrent’, ‘General’, ‘Games’, ‘Forums’, ‘Bug Report’, and ‘Help Desk’. Most of these options have a drop-down menu. The secondary header has six options – ‘Messages’, ‘Reported Items’, ‘Theme’, ‘Language’, ‘Friends’, and ‘Logout’. Towards the right, you’ll also find additional buttons – ‘Search Forums’, ‘Search Request’, and ‘Search Torrents’.
Free Indie Content – With tons of torrents torrents, NordicBits does have a decent library.
Desktop/Mobile experience
I had a great time browsing and navigating across the website. The entire experience was seamless. As for content downloading, NordicBits has a quality seed-to-leech ratio which allows the users to download content at a great speed.
Conclusion
NordicBits is a cool site if you’re from Scandinavia. Most of the files on this platform do not come with English subtitles and thus if you’re not well-versed with Nordic languages, you’ll have a hard time understanding the free indie content. You’ll need to download the .srt files manually to be able to watch and understand the free indie content.
