Introduction

It is rightly said that the internet is a vast ocean of information. However, sailing this ocean to find one fish can be cumbersome. This mostly happens when you are looking for free-content on popular search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

If you are a pirate who has been downloading for quite some time now, you might have faced the above situation at least once. If yes, we understand your pain, and if no, you are in for some great news. You can forget the old ways of searching for torrents on Google which led you to a malicious or a spammy website. Instead, you can try BTDigg, a search engine for torrents, that can help you to get files with just a click.

What is BTDigg?

BTDigg is a torrent search engine that allows visitors to search and download torrents for free. Since it’s a search engine, it does not own any content. All the content that visitors download is sourced by peer websites. When you search for a file on BTDigg, the website simply scans the internet to find the file and shows it in the search results. You don’t need a registered account or any form of membership to access or download content from BTDigg.

Is BTDigg safe?

For a torrent search engine to be safe for browsing, it needs to have an SSL certificate, which BTDigg does have. By using tools such as SEOQuake and MOZ, you can easily check the credibility of a website by gauging Domain Score (DS) and Trust Score (TS). Based on my research, BTDigg has a domain score of 12 and a trust score of 34 which is not that bad. Sure, it’s not uncommon for torrent sites to have a DS less than 15 and a TS less than 40. But given that BTDigg started its journey back in 2007, it would’ve been nice to see a domain score higher than 20-25. Yes, I know that ranking torrent sites or engines isn’t a cakewalk. But to a normal viewer, a DS of 12 is still low.

What should you expect from BTDigg?

Varied Content – BTDigg is a DHT search engine website which means that it searches the internet for torrents and finds the suitable links that can let you download the torrent. This enables the website to provide you with the torrent file of any type of content that you are looking for. You can download the content of different variations too. When you search for a particular file on the website, it shows different variation and you can choose the one that fits your requirements.

Speed – To ensure that you have a good download speed for your torrents, BTDigg finds the fastest downloadable torrents that are available on the internet. These files are chosen on the basis of seeds and leeches supporting the file on the peer website. The torrents with the highest number of seeds and leeches are mentioned on the top of the list.

Unlimited downloads – BTDigg has no restriction on the number of files you download in a day or the number of times you use the website. You can choose to download multiple files simultaneously or one file at a time. The website also allows you to download files from different categories and for different devices. You can download the same file multiple times, so you don’t have to worry about failed downloads.

Easy download process – There are websites that have numerous steps that you need to complete before actually getting to download the file. You will not have that problem with BTDigg. The website has a very easy and simple download process. You just have to find the torrent using the website’s search function and once you find the file all you have to do is click on the name of the file to go to the page where you can download the file.

Latest content: The best thing about torrents is that you can be assured to get the latest files as soon as possible. Torrent websites have contributors that add content to the website in the form of torrents. Most of these files are sourced from the affiliated torrent websites. There are instances, where the contributors get the file even before the release date of the content in the country. When these contributors upload the torrent on their website, BTDigg finds the file and includes it in your search results.

BTDigg in numbers

BTDigg is one of the most popular torrent search engines out there. It is known for its super simple landing page and its iconic green and red color combination.  Having started its journey around 13 years ago, today, BTDigg manages to attract more than 330,000 visits per month. Out of which 130,000 users are unique visitors. It is one of the oldest players in the game. It has been a pioneer in torrent search simplification.

As per the Alexa rankings, BTDigg is ranked #45,646, which certainly makes it amongst the most popular torrent search engines. In terms of engagement, an average user checks out an astounding 12 pages before bouncing off the website. An average visit lasts for more than 21 minutes, which is the primary reason why BTDigg’s bounce rate is so low at 27.21%. So in terms of engagement, BTDigg does manage to strike all the right chords.

How to access BTDigg?

You can access BTDigg by searching for the term ‘btdig.com’ in your search engine. Alternatively, if you want to access the platform directly, you can use the following link: BTDig. Remember, there are various extensions of the website and thus using the link is the easiest way of finding the website and downloading the content.

Before you access BTDigg, it’s important for you to know that protecting your IP and your device should be your priority. Most of the time when you engage in illegal content downloading, your IP can be tracked by your ISP and the local authorities. In order to avoid any trouble, it’s important that you stream anonymously when you’re accessing such platforms. That’s the reason why using a VPN is highly recommended. This will help protect your data and your identity from hackers as well as regulatory authorities.

Design

BTDigg is designed to look like a copy of Google and therefore it does not have any elements placed on the website. The main constituents of  BTDigg are links, images, text, icons, and buttons. These are the few things that support the navigation of the website.

Inner Pages – There are different inner pages on the website, but the most important and significant one is the search torrents page. The search torrent page shows the search results for the terms that are entered in the search bar. It has elements like links, texts, icons, search bars, and buttons. The page has three buttons on the top area that enables you to refine the search results.

Content – As mentioned above, BTDigg does not own any sort of database and it relies on the content that is uploaded on other websites. Its wide range of peer network enables you to download from the torrent libraries that contain thousands and even millions of files. You can download files and content from different categories too. Moreover, the website has no restrictions on the number of torrents you download.

Desktop/Mobile experience

With minimal elements on the page, the website opens pretty quickly on all types of devices. The aspect ratio of the website fits the dimensions of a desktop display seamlessly. The available functionalities can be used conveniently, and the website offers incredible download speeds on desktops.

The mobile version of the website might be a little uncomfortable on the homepage for some devices, but the inner pages are well optimized to fit the mobile screen. Torrent downloads also work pretty well on the mobile version of BTDigg.

Suggestions I have for BTDigg

The goal of the website’s design is understandable, however, it’s high time that some changes be made to the website. The homepage of the website is plain white with no header or any other functionalities which is quite unsettling. Therefore, the website needs to incorporate some inner pages that can have options like ‘Top 10 torrents’, ‘Best torrents’, ‘Top fast torrents’, etc. on the homepage.

Conclusion

BTDigg exceeds our expectations with its brilliant search capacity of scanning thousands of websites to get a file. Moreover, benefits like varied device support make it better for both desktop and mobile users to download torrent.
