Introduction

According to their site, Seed Host “is the oldest continuously operating seed box hosting provider on the internet.” Is this true? Well, I can’t say for sure. I wasn’t able to find a whole lot online regarding the history of Seed Host. Personally, I am willing to take Seed Host at their word, though. I have no reason not to trust this company.

In fact, if we are to take the general sentiments of customer reviews, Seed Host looks as if it may be one of the most trustworthy, dependable, and high-quality seed box hosts on the market today. Of course, every seed box company (any company of any kind, really) is bound to have some negative reviews here and there. But, overall, Seed Host seems to have plenty of fully satisfied customers.

One of the most commonly lauded assets of Seed Host is its speed. Seed Host is frequently brought up in discussions about the fastest seed boxes available. This is especially noteworthy when you factor in just how affordable some of Seed Hosts plans are. With blazing fast shared seed boxes starting at just €6 per month that offer a 10Gbps connection and multiple add-ons, it becomes easy to see just why so many people around the world say that Seed Host is the best seed box for torrenting and file transfer out there.

If you require a bit more power, though, Seed Box will have you covered as well. In addition to its wealth of shared seed box plans, Seed Host also offers plenty of dedicated seed boxes and even fully dedicated servers. No matter what your seed box needs are, Seed Host likely has something that will get the job done, regardless of budgetary limitations.

Speed, however, is not the only important factor to take into account when deciding on which is the best seed box for you. There are myriad technical specs to consider, such as space, amount of allotted traffic, number of available apps and add-ons, ease of setup, how many torrent clients and what types of trackers the seed box enables you to use … the list goes on and on.

So, keeping all of this in mind, let’s take a closer look at Seed Host, and figure out, once and for all, whether this is actually the best seed box for torrenting or not.

Design

One of the most underappreciated components of any seed box service, I think, is the design of the dashboard. After all, when you are paying for a seed box, you are paying for access to a piece of hardware that is often located in a server farm somewhere hundreds of miles away from you. In other words, there is a huge level of disconnect between you and the thing that you are actually paying for. When a seed box host provides a user-friendly and hands-on dashboard, though, this gap can be virtually bridged sometimes, at least a little bit.

When it comes to SeedHost.eu, the dashboard is pretty nice – it is welcoming, intuitive, user-friendly, and helpful. As a seed box dashboard UI should be, it provides an all-in-one interface for users to access every aspect of their seed box. You will be able to quickly and conveniently view your invoices, access all of the services available to you, view open and pending customer support tickets, view announcements, add funds to your account, and access Seed Host’s ever-growing knowledgebase to help you make the most of your seed box.

This is the kind of dashboard UI that I have come to expect from the best seed boxes. If you value user-friendly and intuitive design, Seed Host’s dashboard will be right yup your alley.

Content and Features

So, we have already established that Seed Host has built a reputation around being one of the fastest seed boxes on the market. But how fast are we talking? Furthermore, what can you expect regarding some of the other equally crucial specs upon using a Seed Host seed box for torrenting and file transfer? Well, let’s delve right into the nitty gritty, shall we?

The most logical way to proceed, I think, would be to discuss what features are available based on what kind of seed box you acquire. So, I will run through each of Seed Host’s general offerings, one at a time:

Shared Seed Boxes – Seed Host offers a grand total of 8 different options when it comes to their shared seed boxes. I will outline the price range a little later on. For now, suffice it to say that Seed Host’s shared seed boxes provide:

-Max 10Gbps connection

-Between 1 and 10 TB of disk space

-From 3 – 50 TB of monthly traffic

-VNC and Plex access on higher-end shared plans

It is not every day that you come across a seed box host that packs this level of computing power, speed, and disk space into a shared seed box. If you are considering Seed Host for your first seed box, one of these shared seed box plans would probably be the perfect place to start.

Dedicated Seed Boxes – Do you have slightly more demanding seed box needs? If so, perhaps one of Seed Host’s many dedicated servers that are configured as seed boxes will be what you require. You’ll have more control over the use of your seed box, greater customization options, root access, and additional software upon request. Seed Host offers one of the largest selections of dedicated seed boxes that I have ever seen, but generally speaking you can expect:

-Between 1 and 10 Gbps connectivity

-Intel CPU

-Between 8 and 64 GB RAM

-Between 8 and 60 TB hard drive (SSD available)

-100 TB monthly traffic

-VNC access (all plans)

-Plex access (all plans)

Dedicated seed boxes also provide access to a huge list of apps and features, including Deluge, uTorrent, rTorrent, Transmission, FTPS/SFTP/FTPES, secure HTTP(s), SSH, Resilio, Ombi, Sync, Rapid Leech, Lounge, and many more.

Dedicated Servers – Perfect for larger operations like businesses or website hosting, Seed Host is one of the few seed box companies that offers full-force dedicated servers in addition to seed boxes. Users who purchase a dedicated server also get VIP tech support that will help you along every step of the way if this is your first server. Here are the features and specs for Seed Host’s dedicated servers:

-Intel CPU

-8GB to 32 GB RAM

-From 4 X 2 TB to 4 X 12 TB hard drive

-100 TB monthly traffic

Dedicated servers come complete with full root access, a dedicated IP, month-to-month contract (cancel anytime), free OS reinstall, free unlimited reboots, lifetime hardware guarantee, and 99.999% network uptime.

Mobile and Desktop Experience

Seed Host is every bit as mobile friendly as I would like. Well, save for the fact, that is, that there is no Seed Host mobile app. That really comes as no surprise, though, seed box companies never have mobile apps.

The mobile site, however, will not present any barriers or issues. Access the Seed Host dashboard on Seed Host’s mobile site with ease, presenting a UI that is every bit as smooth, user-friendly, and resource rich as the desktop one.

Plus, with Seed Host’s long list of app compatibility, you will be able to transmit files and data to and from your seed box no matter where on earth you happen to be.

Pricings and Plans

This is where things get messy. In fact, this is often where things get complicated when it comes to seed boxes. The majority of the best seed boxes all come with dozens of different price points and plans. I don’t have time to run you through all the details of every option available on Seed Host, but I will give you an overview of the price ranges – again, separated by seed box type, from shared to dedicated server.

-Shared Seed Boxes: from €6 to €35 per month. Min. €15/month for Plex; min. €35 for VNC

-Dedicated Seed Boxes: From €30 to €170 per month (!)

-Dedicated Servers: From €30 to €77 per month.

As you can see, there is an enormous range when it comes to the pricings and plan options of Seed Host. Generally speaking, though, relative to each type of seed box/server offered, Seed Host is not the cheapest and it is not the most expensive option out there. I would say that this company’s price points are mostly fair, given what they provide.
