Introduction

When it comes time to find a new torrent site for downloading free TV shows, there are a great deal of factors to take into account. Firstly, what level of privacy do you want your torrent site to have? Do you want a TV torrent tracker that is public, one that lets everybody and their brother upload whatever torrent files they want, like The Pirate Bay or Kick Ass Torrents? Or would you prefer a torrent site that is extremely private and exclusive, only allowing users to register if they have a special invite code?

This is likely the first decision that you will have to make before you can start to narrow down the list of TV torrent sites available on the web. Both private and public torrent trackers and indexes have their own strengths and weaknesses, generally speaking. Essentially, though, it all boils down to how active you want to be on your torrent site of choice, how much exclusivity and guaranteed safety you want, and what kind of content it is that you are looking for.

The greatest downfall of the private torrent tracker (at least if you are lazy like me) is the fact that they ask a lot of their users. Some of them are very intense, requiring upload to download ratios that are almost impossible, at least for novice file sharers, to achieve. Sure, some are much laxer than others … but, generally speaking, any private torrent site is going to have certain requirements and limitations.

The upswing to this, however, is the fact that this is where these sites’ quality assurance comes from. By requiring every user to seed a certain amount versus how much they download, you are seldom in a situation where you are unable to download a torrent for lack of seeds. Private torrent trackers are also great for keeping our malware and viruses because of how rigorously files (and users) are tracked (hence, why they call it a torrent “tracker”).

There are a few torrent trackers that occupy a different space, somewhere between a private torrent tracker and a public torrent index. Baibako TV is one of these semi-private torrent trackers. Sites like Baibako TV provide users with a little bit of the best of both worlds. On the one hand, they are usually not anywhere near as strict or demanding as most fully private torrent sites; on the other, they are just exclusive enough to dissuade lame duck peers from leaching torrents and not seeding them.

Baibako TV is a torrent site that specializes in one kind of torrent (as many private torrent trackers do). In the case of Baibako TV, the specialization is much broader than most other private torrent trackers. Baibako TV caters specifically, it seems, to TV torrent downloads. TV torrents are far from the rarest kind of torrent to find on the web. Most massive torrent indexes like The Pirate Bay are likely to have torrents of TV series, at least most of the popular ones.

Sites like Baibako TV, though, since they are dedicated solely to one file type, are much more likely to have every episode of every show you want to download. Maybe you have noticed with sites like The Pirate Bay, that you might be able to find a majority of the episodes of a certain TV series, but some are missing. This is much less likely to occur on a private torrent site like Baibako TV.

Is Baibako TV the best TV torrent site? Well, there is only one way to find out for sure … and that is to dive in and evaluate everything that this TV torrent site has to offer. So, without further ado, let’s take a closer look at Baibako TV.

Design

To be completely honest, I am not sure that I have ever come across a private torrent tracker whose site design impressed me. More often than not they appear dated, unprofessional, and sometimes very disorganized and hard to navigate. Although I do not necessarily love the site design of Baibako TV, I will say this: it is much better than some of the private torrent trackers that I have seen in the past.

There is, for instance, a high-resolution and stylized image plastered as the background, which gives the site some personality (something that almost every other torrent tracker is desperately in need of). The site menu bar, too, is slender and slick, offering something a bit more experiential than you usually find on sites like this. The dropdown function, for instance, is responsive and smooth, creating a decent user experience.

The torrent tables themselves, though, the results that appear when you conduct a search are the same old, tired, and sterile stacks of torrents that you’ll find anywhere else. Maybe it is unfair for me to criticize the standard torrent site layout … but, then again, there are sites that have embraced a more Netflix like approach to site design. I would like to see more torrent trackers go this way, take on a modern look and feel. That being said, the site is easy and enjoyable enough to navigate.

The torrent info pages are quite good, too, offering up plenty of info on the content – plot summary, credits, IMDb rating, and file specs. Most TV torrents found on Baibako have a solid image to represent the series as well. The only thing missing here, in my opinion, would be screenshots.

Content and Features

So, as I mentioned before, Baibako TV is a semi-private TV torrent site. Let’s unpack what that means exactly. Guests cannot simply visit Baibako TV and immediately download TV torrents the way that they can on The Pirate Bay. In order to even see the TV torrent downloads, you have to register.

That being said, registration takes only a couple minutes. Upon sign-up, the site instantly becomes unlocked. This differs, of course, from a fully private torrent tracker in that users do not need a special invite code in order to register. Nor are there only specific windows of open registration. All year long, you can create a profile on Baibako TV and find thousands of TV torrents for free.

Your stats will still be available, though I do not believe that users are upheld to any ratio or performance requirements. Still, though, it is good to be able to track yourself. Please do keep yourself accountable should you decide to become a member of this torrent tracker – seed when possible, help out struggling torrents if you can. This is the only way that we can ensure that Baibako does not go the way of becoming a full, strict private torrent site.

One of the most notable features for me is the fact that Baibako TV has a browser streaming platform attached to it called iPlayer. Any of the TV shows and TV series episodes that are available to torrent on Baibako TV can also be streamed for free on Baibako’s iPlayer (so long as the seed to leech ratio is healthy, as it streams via Bittorrent protocol). When it comes to additional user features, it doesn’t get much better than this, in my opinion.

There is also a forum on which you can discuss a variety of matters with fellow peers. There are forums here that are dedicated to specific series, to torrenting in general, to Baibako TV happenings specifically. I’d say that the forums are moderately active, so, if you like your torrent trackers to have a sociable community, Baibako TV torrents might be a good fit for you.

Mobile and Desktop Experience

Another area in which many torrent trackers tend to struggle is mobile friendliness. This is, fortunately, not the case with Baibako TV. This TV torrent site is actually very well optimized for mobile devices. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised. If being able to torrent on the go is an important quality in a TV torrent site, if you watch a lot of your TV torrents on your phone, I would definitely consider Baibako TV … it is easily one of the more mobile friendly TV torrent sites.
