Introduction

When it comes time to pick a new torrent tracker (or add a new one to your list of go-to sites), it can be a time-consuming and difficult process. There are so many different torrent trackers out there nowadays to choose from. And each one has a slightly different list of strengths and weaknesses. Not all torrent trackers or torrent search engines are created equal, in other words. In order to figure out which torrent search engine is for you, though, first you must ask yourself a critical question: what is it that I am looking to get out of a torrent tracker?

Quantity of Torrents – Perhaps the most important quality in a torrent tracker for you is the number of torrents that it has available. It does stand to reason, after all, that the more torrents a site has, the more likely it is that you will be able to find the exact torrent you need, every time. Sure, this is definitely a factor to take into account. But there are so many others, too, that need to be in conjunction with the number of torrents in order for you to be on your way to the recipe for the best torrent site on the web.

Safety – This is yet another crucial factor. More important, you could argue, than the number of torrents a tracker has available are the safety measures in place. A torrent does not mean much if it is going to cause harm to your computer, right? What good is a torrent of your favorite free indie movie, in other words, if your computer gets a virus and then you cannot even watch it? How, though, can you guarantee that a torrent tracker is safe? Well, there are a few things you can look for…

Verified Torrents – This is one surefire to know that a certain torrent tracker is credible. If it has a system of torrent verification in place, there is a very good chance that site can be trusted. A verified torrent means that it has been checked by multiple people and has been deemed safe and accurate. Your download, then, is guaranteed to not contain anything malicious; it is also guaranteed to contain precisely what it advertises.

Comments and Community – If a torrent tracker has an active community of users and has enabled comments on each of its torrents, this is not only a sign of safety (because members will be able to discuss files and alert each other if a file is harmful), but this is also a good sign of the site’s efficiency. An active community of users often means an active community of peers. And an active community of peers means healthier, faster torrent downloads.

The more people that are uploading, downloading, and seeding files, the more efficient a torrent site will be. If a torrent tracker has found a way to create a certain level of engagement, via social features or something else, then, at the end of the day, it is a good torrent tracker.

Glo Torrents – Glo Torrents is a site that has thought of just about everything. This torrent tracker is jampacked with just about every feature you could want out of a torrent tracker. This public, open torrent tracker has just about every type of free indie file that you could hope for, as well as extremely healthy seeder to leecher ratios. An active community, a versatile selection of torrents, and a verification system all seem to bode well for Glo Torrents. Could this tracker have what it takes to be the best torrent site of 2020? Well, let’s dive in and take a look, shall we?

Design

Unfortunately, this might be the Achilles heel of Glo Torrents. The design of this website is sloppy, dated, cluttered, and frankly a little goofy. A brown, green, and white theme are not exactly inviting. And there is a cartoonish vibe to everything, due to lots of cryptic and silly looking icons that accompany many of the torrents.

Home Page – The home page is a little disorienting, due to everything that I just listed. But once you spend a little bit of time with it, it becomes easy enough to navigate.

Broken or Misleading Pages – This site just keeps on surprising the further inside you delve. There are plenty of pages, unfortunately, that are either misleading or do not load at all. The majority of the links in the site menu bar, for instance, simply take you right back to the home page. This is especially disappointing to find out because, well, if Glo Torrents actually did everything that it claims to do, it would be a pretty awesome and novel torrent tracker.

Torrent Info Pages – This is one aspect, however, of the site design in which Glo Torrents has a chance to shine. I love how much information and media is generally provided within the torrent info pages. Here, you will find everything you wish to know about both the torrent in question and the content therein, Find credit info, synopses, comments, ratings, screenshots, and more. What Glo Torrents lacks in visual appeal, it more than makes up for in efficiency and utility.

Content and Features

Glo Torrents truly has just about every feature I ask for of an ideal torrent tracker. It has all of the community and built-in safety features you could hope for. If you are looking for one of the most features-rich torrent trackers on the web, Glo Torrent may be for you.

Verified Torrents and Other Useful Icons – Find out immediately whether a torrent is verified, without even clicking into that file’s info page by looking for the green checkmark next to the torrent’s name. Additionally, on each torrent file in your search results, you will be able to see what user uploaded it (especially useful with a prolific and trusted user whose files you have downloaded before). Seeder and Leecher info are also visible without clicking into a link.

Active Community, Comments, and Forums – This is one of the community-friendly torrent trackers that I have seen in quite some time. Not only does Glo Torrent have comments enabled on each of the torrent files (a feature that is actually taken advantage of, unlike other torrent trackers), but it also offers up a fun and eclectic collection of forums for you to chat with and discuss files, free indie music, free indie movies, free indie TV, etc. with your fellow peers.

But perhaps the best part of Glo Torrent’s active community is how healthy its torrents are. This is due to the fact that Glo Torrent’s users actively seed and upload regularly. It is a large and active community, which is one of the most important elements of a torrent tracker. This is probably why Glo Torrents’ downloads are fast and efficient.

Mobile and Desktop Experience

The mobile version of Glo Torrents is not exactly great. But it is not exactly terrible either. At least not if you don’t mind zooming in all the time. The site is usable on a mobile device, let’s say, but not ideal. You could definitely torrent on the go with Glo Torrents if you were in a pinch, but it wouldn’t be my go-to for mobile torrenting.

Suggestions that I have for Glo Torrents

My main and vehement advice to Glo Torrents: please, please, please give the site a makeover. I want to like Glo Torrents so badly, but I cannot see myself coming back very frequently. And this is mostly due to the site’s subpar design. With a design makeover, I think that I could definitely see Glo Torrents potentially becoming my new go-to torrent tracker.
